Packaging Managers/Technologists, Netherlands – A great opportunity to join the global Innovations Centre for a major branded business!

The company is looking to expand its R&D facility with the appointment of Packaging Managers and Packaging Technologists to be based in the Netherlands.  This is the European centre of excellence for a number of its key brands.Key responsibilities –
Packaging Manager:

  • Responsible for managing the packaging innovation pipeline within the assigned product category
  • Implementing the strategy and innovation processes in the category, and delivering the agreed goals
  • Managing a team of Packaging Developers and developing capabilities and competences of the team in line with the Heinz people strategy
  • Using consumers understanding and ingredient supplier knowledge to develop preferred packaging
  • Allocating resources for projects, internally, and externally with suppliers, co-packers, research institutes or universities
  • Signalling both trends and developments in the (food) market, as well as in packaging technology and translating these into future packaging and innovations
  • Working in close co-operation with colleagues of Marketing, R&D and Supply Chain
  • Reporting to the R&D Category Leader.

Profile – Packaging Manager

  • Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Engineering, Technology or a similar field
  • Several years of experience in technological packaging development, preferably in FMCG and/or the food industry
  • Good managerial skills and experience in leading teams, within set targets and time frames
  • Understanding of and capable of applying key business processes
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills in English and Dutch
  • Personal skills: creative, self starter, innovative, enthusiastic, entrepreneur, commercial feeling and relationship-builder.

Key Responsibilities – Packaging Technologist:

  • Responsible for leading multidisciplinary packaging development projects within the framework of the agreed innovation pipeline
  • Translating concepts into clear R&D briefings in order to deliver packaging solutions for key customers
  • Implementing new and improved packaging into the production plants in co-operation with local Plant Technologists
  • Identifying and selling value engineering opportunities to line management
  • Presenting insights of the operational impact during feasibility check of marketing proposals
  • Keeping up with technological packing and material developments through internal and external knowledge partners
  • Working intensively with suppliers, Purchasing, Marketing, R&D and Operations colleagues, in order to develop innovative packaging solutions
